From Script to Animated Storyboard in 5 Minutes

A
Andrea @ Dal Nulla

Pre-production is often the most boring but crucial part of a project. With Dal Nulla, you can transform a text script into an animatic (animated storyboard) in just a few minutes. This is incredibly useful for:

  • Pitching ideas to clients
  • Testing the rhythm of a scene
  • Planning shots before going to the real set

Step 1: The Script

Start with a simple idea.

“A lone detective walks in the rain in a neon cyberpunk Milan. He stops in front of a holographic kiosk.”

Step 2: Image Generation (Concept Art)

Use the Image Gen feature of Dal Nulla. Enter the prompt focusing on the atmosphere. Prompt: Cyberpunk Milan, rain, neon lights, detective walking away from camera, reflections on wet asphalt, cinematic lighting.

Generate 4 variations and choose the one that captures the mood.

Step 3: Animation (Image-to-Video)

Now bring that image into the timeline. Select the Motion tool. Set a slight camera shake for realism and a slow push in to create tension.

In about 3 minutes, you have a very high-quality 4-second clip that shows exactly what you have in mind. Repeat for the other 5 key shots, add an audio track from our library, and you’re done. You have a pitch video ready to be shown.
